Jennette M. Bick, DDS, MS
Dr. Bick earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from George Mason University, graduating in 2006. Upon graduating, she was awarded the Bruce and Marian Johnson Award, given to the student enrolling into a medical profession in whom the faculty sees the greatest potential.
She went on to receive the US Army’s Health Professions Scholarship, obtaining her dental degree from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry in 2011. When she graduated, Dr. Bick was chosen by the faculty for induction into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the dental honor society in which only the top 20 percent of the graduating class are even considered for induction.
Dr. Bick was commissioned as a Captain in the US Army and went on to complete her graduate training from the United States Army’s Advanced Education Program in Periodontics at Fort Gordon, GA. She completed the program in 2015. She earned her Master’s Degree in Oral Biology from Georgia Regent’s University that same year.
In 2016, Dr. Bick achieved Diplomate status from the American Board of Periodontology, signifying the highest level of training in patient safety and clinical care.
Further Achievements
After residency, Dr. Bick was assigned to Fort Leonard Wood Missouri, serving as Chief of Periodontics, Officer-In-Charge of the specialty dental clinic, and Deputy Commander. During this time, she was recognized as an Iron Major, a distinction earned by fewer than 100 medical professionals within the Army each year. Dr. Bick was also chosen to be the Officer-In-Charge of the US Army’s Pediatric Dental Mission to Honduras, where she was honored by the Honduran President for her team’s efforts in treating underprivileged children.
In 2018, Dr. Bick was invited back to Fort Gordon to serve as an Assistant Program Director for the US Army’s Periodontic Residency Program. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Bick served as the Officer-In-Charge of Snyder Dental Clinic at Fort Gordon and was responsible for the dental care for thousands of military personnel. One year later, she was selected to assume command of the Fort Belvoir Dental Clinic Command, providing dental care to both Fort Belvoir and Fort Myer.
Her involvement in the Army has allowed Dr. Bick to serve as the action officer for the Female Physician’s Course and be a guest lecturer and mock board examiner for both Army and civilian periodontics residency programs, as well as general dentistry courses nationwide.
In May 2023, Dr. Bick retired from the US Army at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Today, Dr. Bick works as a periodontist in both Winchester and Martinsburg. She teaches throughout the year at the dental residency programs at Walter Reed in Bethesda, MD, and at the VA hospital in Martinsburg. She also serves as the Chairman of the American Academy of Periodontology’s Volunteer Qualification and Awards Committee and as a member of the Anesthesia Committee.
Personal Life
Dr. Bick is married to her partner in crime, Dr. Brandon Coleman. She is also the mom of three beautiful children, Hannah, Myles, and Connor. In her free time, she coaches her kids’ sports teams throughout the year, teaches Sunday school, and spends time with her four doggies.
