Periodontal disease is the term given to chronic infection of the gums. Symptoms include bleeding, swelling, erosion of the gum tissue, in some cases chronic discomfort and the need for tooth extraction. While periodontal disease is a serious concern, plenty of surgical and non-surgical solutions can restore you to full oral health. At Advanced Implant and Periodontal Specialists, we have years of training and experience providing quality care to our patients in Winchester, VA.

Your Initial Visit
Your treatment journey will begin with a consultation. This is always a relaxed, confidential appointment with one of our doctors, and you can expect it to last around an hour as we take plenty of time to get to know you and formulate a comprehensive treatment plan.
Your doctor will take your personal health history, examine your teeth and gums, and educate you on the range of surgical and non-surgical treatment options. We will also happily answer any questions about the treatment, recovery, results, anesthesia choices, and more.
Gum Disease Treatment Options
For most patients, gum disease treatment begins with non-surgical solutions, which are often more than sufficient for restoring full oral health. We typically start with deep cleaning, carefully removing tartar from the teeth and gums. Laser therapies, including full LANAP applications, may also be used, whether on their own or in conjunction with more advanced surgical methods.
Our doctors may recommend surgical intervention for more advanced cases of gum disease or those who do not respond well to non-surgical treatment. Surgery involves the careful removal of damaged tissue and the regeneration of bone and gum tissue, as needed. All surgeries are performed with full anesthesia options, ensuring comfort and safety throughout treatment.
